Roonka Adventure River Park

Dual Cableway

The Roonka Adventure River Park project challenged us to create a unique aerial play experience over water for Scouts SA. The brief required a complex yet safe flying fox installation that integrated seamlessly with the existing lagoon and surrounding landscape.

The primary objective was to build a dual flying fox cableway over the water, providing both excitement and safety for users. The site presented several challenges, including damp ground conditions, varied levels, and the need to ensure effective soft-fall impact attenuation for safe landings.

The project incorporates a dual cableway system supported by engineered screw piles, carefully designed to work with the wet and unstable ground. The departure and arrival stations were custom-engineered to manage the flow of users while maintaining structural integrity and safety. The design also leverages the existing lagoon as both a visual and functional element, enhancing the sense of adventure.

Successful delivery relied on coordinating multiple design disciplines and specialist teams, ensuring the flying fox was both safe and fully operational. The installation provides Scouts and visitors with an exciting, memorable outdoor experience, demonstrating how careful design and engineering can transform challenging terrain into a functional and thrilling adventure space.
