Morphett Vale Preschool
Design Overview
Albie Design Studio was engaged to transform a former high school play area into a vibrant, purpose-built preschool environment. The project involved a change of use and complete redesign to create a space that supports early learning through play, exploration, and connection to nature.
The new outdoor learning environment provides a safe, contained preschool zone that still feels visually and spatially integrated with the broader school setting — nurturing independence while maintaining a strong sense of belonging.
Design Approach
Our vision was to craft an environment that feels authentic, inclusive, and nature-rich. The design encourages children to explore, build, and connect — offering opportunities for sensory play, creativity, and social interaction within a landscape that evolves with the seasons.
To ensure safety and durability, all custom play elements were designed and constructed to AS4685 standards, integrating imaginative play with compliance and quality craftsmanship.

Outcome
The result is a playful, immersive landscape that invites children to explore, learn, and connect with nature. The combination of custom play structures, lush planting, and shaded spaces provides a balanced environment — safe, engaging, and full of discovery.
The new preschool area has become an integral part of the school community, offering educators a flexible outdoor setting that supports curriculum outcomes and child-led learning.
