Brownhill Creek (Wirraparinga)

The Brownhill Creek Association and the Friends of Brownhill Creek are partnering with the Kaurna Community, Scotch College and Mitcham Historical Society to protect the health of a 350-400 year old Kaurna Shelter Tree, which will become a focal point for community engagement, reconciliation and education in both private and state schools.

The project involves clearing invasive vegetation from around the ancient river red gum, installing a viewing platform, interpretive sign and an indigenous native garden to improve the health of the tree and add to the tree's ‘story'.
A major aim of this project is to recognise the significance of the tree in Kaurna history and foster connections made with the Kaurna community over the past nine years and take these connections to a new level.
